A Recent Survey in United States on over dosage of prescription drugs revealed that over 7 million Americans are involved in some kind of improper use of remedies.

The report by US Drug Enforcement Agency revealed that about 5.2 million Americans are involved in some types of improper use of prescription drugs which involves painkillers like Vicodin or OxyContin.

The Agency also said that opioid painkillers cause more overdosage deaths than heroin & cocaine. The extreme amount of usage of painkillers has accounted for 8500 deaths in 2005 which is like a warning message as there is an increase of up to 114 percent in number of fatalities.

The most alarming thing to note is the teenagers in age group of 12 -16 are also turning towards prescription drugs in pharm parties which involved the usage & consumption of prescription drugs.

According to state’s Health and Family Services Kentucky leads the rest of US with at least 485 deaths from prescription drug overdoses. Judicial sources view this as an addition to pain medications which is growing as an epidemic affecting the new generation.
